Week 18 Trust Box

August 20, 2018

Oh my actual goodness how are my favorite humans on earth!!!???

This week was full of miracles. Full of positive vibes. And full of the Spirit!

Elder Jensen & I went to St Louis for the new missionary orientation meeting. And we had the greatest opportunity to learn and grow. It was really eye opening to me as I heard President Bateman talk of the same topics mentioned in my meeting 14 weeks ago. I got something different out if it however.
That's one of my favorite things about the scriptures. We read them often, but every time we read, we get something different out of what we read, and we learn something different.

Well this week the biggest things that stuck with me were having a trust box & understanding principles.

Well what's a principle??
A principle to me, especially in the gospel, is an eternal truth. It is either an "always" or a "never".
They are unchanging and they are much more of a guideline than a rule. They don’t hold us back, but keep us in line.

With that being said, President Bateman drew on the board a box. He wrote on the top of the square "The Scriptures", on the right side "Mission President's handbook", on the bottom "Preach my gospel" and the left side "Missionary handbook". He drew lines all over the inside and told us we needed to stay within the lines of this trust box.
He then explained that there are 3 types of people within the trust box.
1) Prisoners
2) Vacationers
3) Explorers

Prisoners feel that they are trapped. Limited. Have "rules". They don't EXPAND their horizon. They stay idle and don't seek greater opportunities.

Vacationers go outside the trust box once. Then twice. Then three times and kinda just stay out there without a desire to return. They live to feel lenient and relaxed without turning to their purpose.

Explorers truly understand their purpose. They understand the important of staying within the box, so they go as far as they can without going outside the box. They use EVERY resource they have. They reflect on their purpose. They use all that they are given to explore everywhere within the trust box.

I love you all and your Heavenly Father loves you even more.

He has given us soooooo many resources, so many opportunities, so many chances, so many learning experiences. Use them!! Use them all!!

I invite you all to draw a trust box. Figure out what your guidelines and principles are that will keep you within the lines.
It doesn't just apply here on a mission.
It applies after the mission as well. Your box could be surrounded by
Scriptures
Relationships (wife's handbook ahaha)
Prophets
Ensign magazines

With life, comes great responsibility. But don't worry, you can get through it. Heavenly Father trusts you. He knows you are capable. So start preparing so when you are called upon, you are ready and willing.

Love you!!!!!!

Write me please :))))

Spiritual thought:
Don't act like you're in Christ's shoes. Be in Christ's shoes.
Don't act. Be.
Don't imitate or simulate Christ, but Emulate Him.

Week 17 School Starts in 8 Days!

August 13, 2018

Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my!!!!

School starts in 8 days!!! YSA is gonna be blowing up
So hyped!

I love being by college campus (Mizzou) it's pretty dope

I love you!!

This week was pretty amazing! But I mean what week isn't! Missouri is full of blessed people with blessed personalities and blessed miracles left and right.

We had zone conference last Tuesday and it was such a growing opportunity for the zone! We discussed the needs of each district and how we can grow from one another. The district's help to affect the zone… and the zone the mission. So I love going to zone conferences and watching how we improve as a whole.

Elder Jensen and I are getting a long great! We are so excited about the work and love the people so the combination is great!!

The zone came up with an idea to have each companionship set a motto for themselves.
Our zone motto is "Love is the Motive."
Everything we do should be out of love. As I have learned to love those I am around, it becomes so easy to seek their needs and build a desire to serve them. Recognize the Savior’s love for you & I can promise that you'll begin to love those around you even more

Our companionship motto is "Expand the Horizon"
We sent this into the Columbia Zone group chat!

We hope your spirits are high and going to grow!!

Elder Jensen & I wanted to share our companion motto with y'all..EXPAND THE HORIZON.

Often times it seems each area, district, zone & even mission have their own cultures for given areas.
Well don't allow those cultures to set you back, discourage you, or prevent you from increasing your companionship's abilities. This motto helps us to recognize that cultures can be changed if necessary. If you see room for improvement in your area, fill it. If you see an opportunity for growth, take it. If you are curious what would happen if you did something different, seek to do something different. Be willing to change & make the difference in your area & for all the companionships to follow after you

Our experience yesterday was quite fabulous We realized that there were several areas that had been tracted over & over again. We decided to proselyte on the opposite side of town. We are now feeling very confident going into this next week knowing that The Lord has prepared elect for all of us in our areas & this may be taking one step closer to finding them. So we are EXPANDING THE HORIZON by going places Bear Creek hasn't been before

Love y'all!! Have an opportunity filled Sabbath
#compmotto
#expandthehorizon
#loveisthemotto

I invite each of you to recognize the culture in your life, your family’s life & the culture in the group's you choose to affiliate with. Do a reflection & decide whether or not you want to seek change & improvement. Then begin to set goals, make plans, & EXPAND THE HORIZON!!

Be different! Be loving!! & never stop making BOLD NEW moves!

You're the greatest! Smile big because why not…

Week 16 New Transfer New ME

August 6, 2018

IT FEELS GOOD TO HAVE A NEW TRANSFER!!

I miss Elder Burgess, but it's a good fresh start and every time transfers roll around I get excited!!

How are y'all??

Awesome!! Glad to hear!

School starts in 14 days!!! Ahaha it's insane I've been here a whole summer!!

I am right by the Mizzou campus so it is picking up speed around here in Columbia. Tons of students! Way more traffic! But it's seeming like much more of a lively town now. It's a great vibe for sure.

This week I got a son!!! ELDER JENSEN!!
Elder Jensen, Josh's new companion

I am so excited! He is fresh to the field and has a huge testimony. & He’s not at all afraid to share it!! He is excited about the work and is making a huge impact on the district already! So proud to be with him for his first 12 weeks in the field!

I don't have much time today but just wanted to share with you my testimony of the power of the Holy Ghost.

Just take a second to think about the Holy Ghost in your life. Think of the role the Holy Ghost has. Think of how and when you've felt in in your life? Think about why you felt it.
I have never been comforted more in my life than when I receive promptings or feel the presence of the Holy Ghost in my life. The Holy Ghost is a literal part of the Godhead. We receive revelation straight from our Father in Heaven...by the power of the Holy Ghost. We receive a testimony of truth...through the power of the Holy Ghost. We are comforted as Heavenly Father wraps his loving arms around us...by the power of the Holy Ghost.
We are given this powerful spiritual gift and we need to be utilizing it. When we pray we need to sit and listen and recognize the feelings we receive.

I am so grateful to be here in Columbia Missouri serving as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to wear Jesus Christ on my nametag each and every day. I feel the presence of the Holy Ghost every day that I work for its companionship. The Holy Ghost has been one of my biggest tools out here. It guides me. It comforts me. It directs me. It testifies to me. It leads me to those that need it's presence. It brings me so much happiness to be able to bring that joy and light to people's lives.

I know that if you are doing what the Lord expects of you and if you are truly seeking his companionship, the Lord will give UNTO you. Then you must choose to bring it INTO your heart.

Love us so much!
Keep being positive and loving to all those around you!!! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you!!!
